This by far is my favorite picture of Megan and I. I'm glad we got a picture of it at the theater because it sums up that entire experience.
We want to thank everyone who took the time to call, email and post on the blog and facebook their good wishes. We had a blast at our viewing party and want to thank again everyone who showed up.
My one regret is that what I thought would be shown on the show didn't. We filmed some really "good stuff" that I guess was just too...something. I would have liked to see what Ivan Lopez would have done if he had gone further. He runs a really cool store in San Francisco and Megan found out that she had been there. There were some really funny back and forth comments with Margot and our helpers. Our helpers were the best, they totally connected with the way we talk and really "got" what we wanted to do.
Unfortuately, they didn't show a lot of our tree and there were some comments that we didn't use very many of the required objects. We used quite a lot of the stuff from bubblewrap, cellophane, holiday cards, boxes. People have asked if we kept the tree. The tree was 6' tall and is the property of the show. I wouldn't be surprised if Tori snagged it! I just found out that TLC has a contest for the wreath on twitter. I didn't know they gave those projects away and that's kinda cool that they thought mine was cool enough to give away. I hope whoever wins it send me a pic of it hanging on their door or if they choose to burn it a pic of it burning. (I was surprised at how many people thought it was ugly) That's ok but that wreath was done in one hour and was freakin', kickass, cool as shit for one hour! :)
People ask "how was Tori?" She was very nice, she would come by a couple of times and ask questions and we answered them. Again, most comments didn't make it on the show. I think to get the entire scope of our experience it would have to be a mini-series starring us and although it would be funny, well we will never know.
I can't wait to see what other projects are shown for the remaining 4 shows. There have been a lot of positive and negative comments about this show as a "craft show". It is what it is. I hope a lot of people get interested in crafts and maybe this show will give birth to more interest in craft shows. For us it's back to work and doing what we do...selling "cool stuff for cool people".
Cheryl,
You and Megan did a fabulous job with your wreath and your tree! I really loved the tree.... AND the skirt!! LOL!!! The chalkboard paint was an awesome idea and the star on top was... drop dead fabulous!
I'm so happy to hear that it was a fun experience. I think that Tori is one of those women that we all love to hate on TV. I guess we are jealous! LOL! I'm so happy to know that she is lovely in person!! She is a fellow crafter, of course!
I hope the show brings more fans to your door and that overall it inspires the "craft" out of people! :)

Again, Congratulations! I hope you get all the publicity you deserve for your win. It was a fun episode; if not a great series -- a bit of new judges could correct that. Imagine what you could have done if you'd been able to bring something from home to work with!

It was so great to watch you gals do your thing (to the best of on-air ability). Congratulations on winning and we can't wait to see what you come up with next. PS. Anxiously awaiting your trip to Florida.

I thought the show was too short--I could tell there was much more that went on than what was shown... there HAD to be!
I thought at the time you won because you used more items that were required than the other person. I loved the bubble wrap texture idea and wished it stood out more.
And your tree skirt was AWESOME! The one judge that wanted it edged in felt? There was no felt in your mailing options!!!
Yes, both trees were great, and I hated that Ivan's idea didn't play out--I was looking forward to what the cones looked like on the wreath...
I am so proud of you both--you rocked that show!!!!

I thought your projects were the best that have been seen on that show, so far. And yes, I agree; you two are a mini-series and not 1/3 of a one hour show. I would have loved more Meghan and more Cheryl & Meghan's witty repartee. Congratulations!

Being from the dark ages and having no TV (yes, it's true. The TV in this house only plays DVD's and games...no cable hook up to "watch" TV) I am totally bummed that I missed out on your creation and win! BUT! Congrats and I'm glad you gals take the comments with a grain of salt and keep creating!

I originally missed the first airing of the show.. (DUH, I set my alarm for 9:00pm) but I did catch a re~run of it at 11:00pm.. Whew!
It was a good show, loved the tree.. loved the topper...
If I was on that show, I would STILL be standing at the goodie bar pickin' stuff out to use, seriously...... LOL!!!!!!!
I TOTALLLLLLLY AGREE with the show being at the very least a catalyst to get something MORE going for CRAFTING SHOWS!! I miss Aleene's Creative Living and Carol Duvall.. I LOVE those shows.. and enjoyed them alot.. Sooooooooooo many ideas. and I just do not understand why they are gone/off the air and none are there to replace them.. something is seriously WRONG with that...

I thought the show was so much fun! I thought it was hilarious that you guys did created very similar tree silouttes....certainly the finished product was quite different. Man, they dogged on the tree skirt, didn't they (I never would have thought about sewing together Christmas cards!)? I wished they had focused on some of your ornaments, because I thought those were so pretty. You could totally teach a class making smaller trees like that (hint, hint, hint!). Just glad you didn't try to spraypaint styrofoam ! Ha!

Thank you for having the viewing party! Linzi and I had a great time! We want to know when the smaller version of the tree will be avaiable.

I loved it! I think you both had so much poise and thought very quickly and well under the pressure! Your creations were great! Kudos on the win!!!!

You guys were awesome on the show...I loved your attitudes and if you were stressed it really did not show :-) By all means congratulations on the win....woohoo!

Honey, you ROCKED it! In the initial round, and the Master round: hands-down! I even made my hubby watch it (you know, impartial input, and all that- ha!) and he was fully in favor of your War Win!
My only regret is that you don't get to go back for some sort of "Tournament of Champions" -- well earned, but so brief was our chance to see you shine ;-)
Congrats, again -- it was great to see you and your Girl making magic happen -- I freakin' LOVE that light bulb business! *talk about a BRIGHT idea - hee, hee!*
Rock ON, TSS Dames! Big love from NC :)

I thought it was really kick ass as you say! I liked the wreathe I loved the tree and I don't know why that woman from Michael's acted like she was the end all be all on the plexy glass thing! I think she needed to say something and sanding was something she knew! Congrats on the $10K win. Whatcha going to buy?

You guys were the BEST on Craft Wars...I really did like the tree skirt..I totally did not understand why they thought it should have been painted because that would have cover the cards you used. That guy that is a judge...well all he likes is glitter, go figure. Cheryl and Megan, you both did an OUTSTANDING job and were clearly the most talented two on this show and all the shows that have aired so far! I have an idea...you guys need to have your own craft show. I miss shows like Craft Lab...way too many cooking shows and not enough craft shows. I'm wicked proud of you both!

I caught the show, too, and I have to say, I thought your competitors were very annoying! And they showed the other gal way more than they showed you. I was SO happy when you WON!!! I LOVED your wreath. I'd never be able to come up with something so creative in an hour. I was hoping I'd get to see you work with metal, but I loved your tree idea with the writing on it. That would be great for kids.

I just had a chance to watch Craft Wars last night. What a hoot! And you won!!! So much fun to watch .. can't imagine the delight, the stress, the fun, the emotions .. can't wait to hear more about it. It looked a couple times like you wanted to say something, but bit your tongue?? haharharhar ... good girl! I thought your wreath was awesome, I wanted to smack those judges!!

I didn't know about the show until I saw the information on the web from Megan. I saw you guys working on the wreath which was pretty cool. Then my husbad told me he wasn't feeling good and I had to call 911 for him so I missed the rest of the show. He was in the hospital for 2 days and is home now and doing great. I told him he only got sick because I was watching a craft show, not a submarine movie. I did enjoy what I had time to watch. I hope they rerun it so I can see the rest.

Hi Cheryl! I just watched Craft Wars on my dvr and had to google you! I LOVED your wreath and your tree! So much of crafting is personal taste and I wanted to smack those judges throughout the show! Ha! I can see critiquing a person for using the wrong kind of glue or leaving things messy or unfinished, but statements like "You needed to add more color" I don't agree with, it's just a personal preference. Using chalkboard paint on the tree was genius, and I want to do a minature one for my classroom! Lastly, the sewn card tree skirt was my fave!! I'm definitely saving holiday cards this year to make one. How the judges didn't see how brilliantly on trend it is (it could be in an Anthropologie catalog!) blows my mind! Guess it goes back to that personal taste thing we all have. :). Congrats to you!

I never watch reality/competition shows. But I pvr'ed your episode of Craft Wars and watched it just this week, with my daughter. We were amused, and enjoyed seeing what you came up with in the show. And of course I was very very excited that you won! Congrats!
