It's been a hectic week around the studio and we scrambled to get caught up on our Taco Tuesday Videos. We try to film around four videos at a time, but then we blink and the month is over and we need more. Today's video is a fun one that I came up with a while back and then Megan told me about this other technique that she found, so we combined both ideas into one fabulous video (if I do say so) for all of you to enjoy.
I call this my Posey Head Flower (right side) and Megan calls her's Kick Ass Cool Flower (left side).
We used out Pink Diamond and Plum Metal for these two samples.
The two part epoxy that I used is called Mighty Putty. You can purchase this stuff from Lowe's. It's located in the paint section where they carry all the adhesive stuff. Or you can order it online by clicking on the name above. I use it when I need to adhere heavy things together and you can mold it into shapes, let dry, paint and have your own dimensional ephemera. It really is pretty cool stuff. Wash your hands right away as it's sticky, or wear gloves when you mix the two parts together.
Here's my entire collection of my little Posies. They really do look quite cute in the little jar or made into pins.
We want to thank Christine from Scrap Time for doing the video at Glitz Designs MITI at CHA. Watch their video and you'll see how to make cool flowers with paper.
Post a comment to this blog posting and we will pick a winner on Friday. Vote for either the Kick Ass flower or my very cute, God's creation...Posey Head. Megan will pick two winners and they will receive their own stash of metal to make your own "posey heads!"
hmmmm...really hard choice. First, I think I'd make two posey heads and attach one to either side of the bottle cap for a completely rounded flower head...sorry, just saying, is all...I've made Megan's Kick Ass flowers with tissue and papers and would never have thought to try metal...so I really have to pick one, huh? Okay, I'd most likely use Megan's Kick Ass flower before I'd use the Posey Head....sorry, Cheryl. (and the Posey Heads really do make me think of a baby in a large sun bonnet)...look at that flower in the vase with the green bow beneath...doesn't that look like a baby head in a bonnet with the ribbon tied under her chin? sigh, I digress.........

These look really interesting. Now I need to watch the video.

The Posey Head Flowers are the bestest! And where do I sign up for the Posey Head Posse? Gread Video and the Posey Heads look a whole lot easier to make and you can make lots of different sizes and without all of that extra hammering.

If Megan is picking the winners then I think I need to vote for Megan's Kick Ass flower so I can win!!! They both look great...thanks

I'm gonna vote for That Kick Ass...... Posie head MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, Thought ya had me there Megan didn't ya.
Posted by: Erika Taylor | May 04, 2010 at 11:04 AM
Great ideas!!! I suppose I'm gonna go with the brown-nosing option of the Kick Ass flower. The metal carrot dangling in front of me is too hard to resist!! I have to say that I now have some ideas on how to make a few slightly modified flowers. Will give them a shot and send you guys some pics!!!
Thanks, again, for the awesome ideas and all of the great links, too!

I was planning to vote for Megan's flower BUT I have to say that my TRUE favorite is the Corona flower...does that come with lime?
I love this idea, especially since I have a black thumb and kill all my flowers by late June-early July!! I just discovered your blog a few weeks back and I love it!!!!

ROFLOL Great video....both flowers are CUTE...in there own way. I think personally I want to make the flowers I'm envisioning...kind of a combo of the two...LOVE the posey head...but would like it to be a complete circle..the kick a$$ flowers are great if they didn't look like a soda can ran over in the Target parking lot (don't think I could get one to come out as nice as the purple one you shared). or maybe a circle flower made of little crinkled individual petals. Definetly ideas bouncing around to play with now....THANKS Girls!!

Have to say I like the kick ass flower!
Posted by: Diana B | May 04, 2010 at 12:41 PM
Gosh, both are adorable. Lovin' how the Posie Heads look as a bunch but the Kick Ass flower looks great alone. So, I guess what I am saying is, if the prize is a single flower then I would have to go w/the Kick Ass but, if the prize is a bouquet of Poisie Heads, I would love that. How's that for confusing?!?!
Posted by: DeannaC | May 04, 2010 at 02:55 PM
Well....it's hard to decide. I like the uniqueness of them both. You know if, you combined the two flowers then you would have what God created, which would be a Cool kickass Posey head flower. God's creation Posey head or Megan's Kickass cool flower?
I like God's cute little creation Posey head flower. :0)

I like Cheryl's Posey Head flower -- mainly because I think I could make one like that. If I tried Megan's Kickass cool flower it really would look like a mess of mangled metal.

I have to vote for Kiss ass.... oh I mean Kick Ass flower! Sue
Posted by: Sue | May 04, 2010 at 04:34 PM
Well I'm down with the TSS posse. I'm riding the fence on this one. She loves me...she loves me not....
Posted by: Tiffany Robbins | May 04, 2010 at 05:23 PM
I have to go with Cheryl's Posey flower. It looks like a metal version of a ribbon flower I used to make. I love the texture on it! Really adds an extra dimension to them. Awesome just like the TSS texture plates!! Marita

it really is a hard choice to say which one i like better...they are both unique in technique..but i will have to say that the posey head flowers are the ones i would make the most of...sorry megan...i think i would just get too pissed off making the kick ass flower and walk away..so posey head wins my vote:)
see you at inspired next week!!!!

What a fun pattern! It's great to hear from you and see what you've sent up to. All of the projects look great! You make it so simple to this. Thanks!

I NEED some kick-ass flowers. Hope I can make them look like that. Sigh!
Posted by: geezee | May 04, 2010 at 08:44 PM
I'm relieved that I won a prize last week so I don't have the pressure of picking one flower or the other this week! Both flowers give me lots of ideas, but if I were to open up a padded envelope that came all the way from Texas, I think I would be more likely to ooh and aah if there were a Posey Head flower in there. Come to think of it, you could just send out scraps of metal so people could try to make one themselves. I like the texture on the Posey Heads.

Sorry Cheryl, Megan's Kick Ass flower wins it for me hands down, Too Cute!!! Love It!!!

my vote is for the kick ass cool flower
Posted by: Karen Keiper | May 05, 2010 at 03:17 AM
The kick ass cool flower does it for me.
Posted by: Marion Glanton | May 05, 2010 at 06:16 AM
It's a tough choice because both flowers are so different and beautiful but if I had to have just one I would pick the posey head. Fabulous ideas... I'm such a flower junkie anyway... and metal junkie, lol!!! Perfect!!!!
Posted by: Wanda H | May 05, 2010 at 06:19 AM
Sorry Megan, I'm going with Cheryl's Posey Flowers. Not an easy choice and maybe I should have gone with Megan's since she is picking the winner. Love your kick ass metal!
Posted by: Nancy B | May 05, 2010 at 06:44 AM
IF I have to choose, its Cheryl's Posey Head Flower...I have a lots of bottlecaps and can't wait to try this.
Megan, the other flower is cool too...but I am concerned with having a smashed finger...yep, I am a big baby.

I kind of like the Kick Ass flower, sorta!!

My vote is for the Kick Ass flower!

I am lovin' me some Megan's KICK-ASS Flowers. You go girl.
You didn't learn that in Ranger School. Tim is probably eattin' his heart out. Who knows it could turn up on one of his 2010 Christmas Tags.
Posted by: Karen Pilcher | May 05, 2010 at 12:06 PM
Oh I can't decide. Like them both. If I'm in a hurry then Megan's Flower is the one! Colorful, Cute and Definitely Kick Ass! Can do as a pin or as a refrig magnet.
If I have the time then Cheryl's Posey Head Flowers are the ones! Embossed, distressed (sanding or with alcohol inks) and clay faces for the center. 2 cute for words!
OMG which way to go???? Sorry Megan but I want to be part of the Posse.
Thanks ladies for all your ideas and absolutely wonderful videos!

I like them both (ahem!) but the kick ass flower is my fav.
Posted by: Pat Upton | May 05, 2010 at 12:07 PM
Kick Ass is my favorite but I love the use of bottle caps with the bingo mold cut out for the Posey Heads.
Posted by: JoAnna C | May 05, 2010 at 12:09 PM
I have to admit, Megan's Kick Ass flower appeals to me the most. Please don't hate me Cheryl!
Posted by: Brenda | May 05, 2010 at 12:09 PM
I'm stunned; so, if a decision is in order, I think I like the finished product of the kick-BEEP (Ass) flower. HOWEVER, I like the Posey Head flower as well... what I would do different (in case you're the slightest bit interested) is combine two Posey heads together by inter-folding/locking the ends together, before adding the bottle-cap center. Another idea, use the "ice cream cone" to shape the flower then flatten (yes, with a hammer) the outside part of the petals. WHAT????.... too much?!? ;o)
Posted by: Kathy | May 05, 2010 at 12:11 PM
I like the Posey Head flower the best! It's a happy fun flower that makes me want to make a boquet for a friend!
Posted by: Karrie Richie | May 05, 2010 at 12:16 PM
i vote for megan's
Posted by: Stephanie | May 05, 2010 at 12:22 PM
I vote for the kick-ass cool flower because hey, it's totally cool AND it kicks ass!
Posted by: Lynne Phelps | May 05, 2010 at 12:27 PM
Okay, so I'm a HUGE dorkifus---just realized the prize isn't the flowers, but metal to make flowers. In that case, would have to say the Posey Head flower---sorry Megan :(
Posted by: DeannaC | May 05, 2010 at 12:39 PM
Posey Heads - sweet social little dears
Kick Ass Flower - a rebel standing alone
Posey Heads - ready to attend a garden party together and dance on the table
Kick Ass Flower - perched on the cover of a journal yelling...Hey! Look Here!
Who's to say which is better, the sweet pea or the rose?
Depends on the occasion.
Posted by: Vivian | May 05, 2010 at 12:41 PM
I think my FAV is the lime green with the Corona bottle cap. Green is my favorite color. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to win. For some time now I've wanted to get into metal art but unfortunately I just can't afford new supplies right now. So what better way to start than to win them.
FINGERS CROSSED!!

My Biggest Hoorah goes for Mighty Putty! Good stuff to know about and play with! Thank you! As for flowers... hmmm... I guess my vote is for Cheryl's Posey Head flower, but what about putting 2, or 3, of the accordion pleats around the bottle cap for a full circle flower??? Thanks for the inspiration! Happy Cinco de Mayo ~
Posted by: KathyAnne | May 05, 2010 at 12:44 PM
Don't hurt me Megan, but I like Posey Heads a little better....but.....would love to see one where the pleated metal goes all the way around.
I'd love to win some metal instead of buying it for a change. :)

So hard to choose but will have to vote for the Kick___ flower. I do like the arrangement of all the posey head flowers though.
Posted by: Marlene Moore | May 05, 2010 at 12:51 PM
Both are sure cute... how about a bottle cap in the middle of Megan's flower??
Also a quick tip...Sizzix and Cuttlebugs etc. are great for smashing bottle caps, really makes them have a nice finish and end up flatter for people wanting to put them in scrapbooks or just for a different look. Do some trial ones to get the exact pressure (or sandwich) and you will love it!!
P.S.I also put a thin piece of cardboard under mine to protect the mats.

Love the colorful array of metal flowers - such a great look! Although I like 'em both, I vote for the Kick Ass flower!

PKA-posey kiss ass, oops I mean posey kick ass flowers are all just FAB, and I need to hurry up and make some now.

Well, I so look forward to the chuckles I know I'll experience when watching your Taco Tuesday treats!!! I have to say I really love the Posey Heads and would happily become part of the Posey Head Posse! thanks for the info about the putty too...looks like extremely versatile stuff!

I would choose Megan's Kisk a** flower. Their both very cute, but I was drawn to Megan's.

Well now girls, I have never been a brown nose and not voted for who would pick me. so Cheryl's bottle cap flowers are awesome awesome, already have a few ideas to remake them. Thanks Megan too, they are cute but..... Even though they Kick --- Beverly
