Updates at Ten Seconds

We've been contacted about our tree topper and can't wait to see where this takes us. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful and creative partner and daughter. We will keep everyone posted if this little endeavor flies!

I've got a lot going on this week at the Studio. I won't be here since I'm flying in to teach at  Marcos Paper in Centerville, Ohio tomorrow for a meet and greet/demo Wednesday Night (I think wine is involved), Thursday morning I'll be on Fox 45 in Dayton, Ohio for a crafting segment and to talk about winning Craft Wars. I've never been on a news show so this should be fun. Then, back to Marcos for two classes on Thursday.

Friday & Saturday I'll be demoing in Marcos booth at Stampaway in Cinncinatti. Contact Marcos for class signups and come by on Wednesday night for our demo.

We've been slammed these last two weeks and will be getting back on track with our videos next week. We've got some cool projects shot and can't wait to show everyone some new ideas.

Signups are going great for our VerDay All Day Workshop in Arizona and I'll have more details next week. We've done two of these workshops and it's amazing what the students have been creating. We'll get some pics up of some of the projects students have worked on from Antlers to lamp shades. We've gotten lots of requests for more creative classes in the Studio and we're coming up with some ideas for that as well.

Don't forget to watch Craft Wars tonight at 8pmE/7pmC on TLC. If you want to watch our episode again it's on right before the new episode. That'll be the end of our 15 minutes for Craft War Queens! And it was a blast.

We did it together!

This by far is my favorite picture of Megan and I. I'm glad we got a picture of it at the theater because it sums up that entire experience.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to call, email and post on the blog and facebook their good wishes. We had a blast at our viewing party and want to thank again everyone who showed up.

My one regret is that what I thought would be shown on the show didn't. We filmed some really "good stuff" that I guess was just too...something. I would have liked to see what Ivan Lopez would have done if he had gone further. He runs a really cool store in San Francisco and Megan found out that she had been there. There were some really funny back and forth comments with Margot and our helpers. Our helpers were the best, they totally connected with the way we talk and really "got" what we wanted to do.

Unfortuately, they didn't show a lot of our tree and there were some comments that we didn't use very many of the required objects. We used quite a lot of the stuff from bubblewrap, cellophane, holiday cards, boxes. People have asked if we kept the tree. The tree was 6' tall and is the property of the show. I wouldn't be surprised if Tori snagged it! I just found out that TLC has a contest for the wreath on twitter. I didn't know they gave those projects away and that's kinda cool that they thought mine was cool enough to give away. I hope whoever wins it send me a pic of it hanging on their door or if they choose to burn it a pic of it burning. (I was surprised at how many people thought it was ugly) That's ok but that wreath was done in one hour and was freakin', kickass, cool as shit for one hour!  :)

People ask "how was Tori?" She was very nice, she would come by a couple of times and ask questions and we answered them. Again, most comments didn't make it on the show. I think to get the entire scope of our experience it would have to be a mini-series starring us and although it would be funny, well we will never know.

I can't wait to see what other projects are shown for the remaining 4 shows. There have been a lot of positive and negative comments about this show as a "craft show". It is what it is. I hope a lot of people get interested in crafts and maybe this show will give birth to more interest in craft shows. For us it's back to work and doing what we do...selling "cool stuff for cool people".

 

 

This Week is Our Week on Craft Wars

Our episode airs tomorrow and it's a Christmas Show. I love Christmas and it's my favorite time of year, so you know I'm going to love this challenge. Megan and I are having a viewing party at the B&B Colleyville IMAX Theater located at the corner of Hall Johnson and Hwy 26 in Colleyville. They've (TLC) changed the show's timeslot which is now 7pm central. Give us a call (817-595-9333) to get your name on the list and come by for the party from 6pm-8pm.

I Hate Megan

Why do I hate Megan? She and some friends are on vacation in the British Virgin Islands. They went in together and rented a yacht to sail around the islands. Yeah, I bet all of you are hating her right now too. Megan does what she wants when she wants and it's not fair. I hate her.

We shot all these videos before she left with Trisha and two of them are lost. Megan thought she had downloaded them but now she can't find them and of course, she erased the videos on the camera. On last week's designer team video, Trisha Conlon, showed a really cool technique using a glass heart and VerDay on the solder part of the project. So today, I finger knit a chain for the heart. Yes you read right "Finger Knit" and everyone should do it at least once in their lives. I like doing things with my fingers and this ties in nicely.

 This technique is so simple it will just make you smile wondering "why didn't I think of that?" I found this technique on my favorite addiction "Pinterest" where there are many videos showing how it's done. So I took our Arty Farty Fibers and did it with the glass. Even Megan (I hate Megan) was impressed with this technique and it takes quite a bit to impress Megan (I hate Megan) with anything.

Watch Craft Wars tonight on TLC at 10pm E/9pm C. I think you may get a glimpse of us at the end of the show as our show in on next week. Trisha Conlon does it again

Today we are featuring Trisha's cool soldered VerDay'd heart. Tomorrow we will do a cool video to show what you can do with the heart. This is so easy to do and if you live in our area and haven't taken a class with Trisha at The Crafty Scrapper, well you're missing out.

 Check out Trisha's site for her third arm tool that she and her favorite hubby handmake. I've got one and they're great.

VerDay All Day Workshop

We have been amazed at the signups for our VerDay Workshop that we are having in July. Both classes are sold out and we've added another for August 18th (we have seats available but call now) at our warehouse/studio.  Then we started getting all sorts of emails from followers around the country who don't want to come to hell in the summer...who could blame them....

 

So we are taking this show on the road. The first workshop will be in Arizona September 15th in Glendale. Yes, I know Arizona is still kinda hellish in September but it's a dry hell!

We're working on then going to Florida and right now I'm thinking the Tampa area in October. We haven't finalized the details but when we've got the logistics worked out we'll let everyone know.

We've got a great special on the Arizona class going until next Tuesday (July 10th) so email us or call us for details (817-595-9333).

I have to say that this is a once in a lifetime event because Megan does not travel for classes. This will be the first time we've done a workshop together and we promise to be on our best behavior. What better way to spend your time in a workshop getting messy, playing with all sorts of surfaces and learning all our techniques and tips using our wonderful paints. And, having both of us to give you our opinions....I call that heaven. Come on you know you want to come!

New Month...New Designer! Welcome Trisha Conlon

 July is always a crazy month for us and since tomorrow is the 4th of July we decided to showcase our designer, Trisha Conlon, on today's video. Trisha shows some really cool ideas using our VerDay paints but also a cool technique with our metal and paper.

Trisha has her own blog and etsy shop and does the most fabulous work in soldering. She teaches at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie and is always coming up with cool ideas using soldering and metal. We've known Trisha for about 7 years and was so happy that she submitted for the design group. Being local is nice and Trisha spent the day with us and we filmed all her videos. Wait til you see what she came up with!

We have added a third VerDay All Day Workshop slated for August 18th. These classes have filled up fast and there is limited seating. Check those calendars and let us know if you can join us for a fun, VerDay your brains out workshop! We are busy painting our corporate headquarters with our paints and can't wait to show everyone our work.
