Last week my folks moved in with favorite hubby and I. Luckily we have houses that are large enough for 4 people. We packed everything in my mom's kitchen and then I unloaded and figured I would organize it as I was unpacking.
She had 6 cans of sliced pineapple, multiple types of weird beans, 10 cans of the same soup, 8 packages of pasta, 6 packages of noodles etc...etc. To say she had enough food for an army would be an understatement. The funny thing is this woman goes to the store every other day. The weirdest thing I found was a box of fortune cookies. WHO eats fortune cookies? When I asked why she had a box of fortune cookies she said and I quote, "well Cheryl, we eat them when I make my asiatic food!" Asiatic Food! All these years I've been calling it by the wrong name and now I've been enlightened.
It's been 8 days since we moved and we've had about 4 major fights about stupid stuff. This woman is stubborn, pigheaded and thinks I'm an idiot. I'm trying to make this easy for my folks (my dad is happy if he eats every two hours) and still keep my sanity. The other night she decided to make a pork tenderloin for dinner (yes, she cooks all the meals). I was taking it out of the oven and my dad comes in and says "oh good donkey dick!" I looked at the pork and thought "just breathe Cheryl." Then my mom got out the sliced pineapple and I said "what's with the pineapple?" She said, "when I cook Hawaiian, I always use pineapple." I then reached into the fridge for the wine....it goes great with Hawaiian!
Today's video is all about using our alphabet stamp set and stamping onto wood. We showed this last year and since I'm busy plucking my eyeballs out, we are reshowing our favorite videos for this time of year. I hope this inspires you for this season and gives you some ideas for your gift giving. If you order this alphabet set we will include a wood frame with it. Just put wood frame in the comment section.
As for me, I will never look at a pork tenderloin the same and will probably drink wine with every meal. *I did end up throwing away the fortune cookies away as they were from 2007!

LOL!! Look at the smaller picture Cheryl, it's not forever... and please believe me when I say... you will miss them terribly when they are gone... it's not forever, enjoy every minute while you can..
I MISS MINE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!! ;o(
Seriously... sure there's times when you'd like to go insane... but this too shall pass and HE will give you strength to endure, if HE led you where you are... ;o)

I agree with Weezie - enjoy them while you have them! Yes, they will drive you insane at times. But just think, we'll all be doing the same thing when we get crusty (or crustier?)!

Yup, Weezie is so right. I am blessed to still have mine around (they are both healthy and in their early 80s) and live about 2 hours drive.
Drink more wine if you have to, and share a good laugh with them!
And if that doesn't work, take it out on the metal!

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing! If the fortune cookies were from 2007, I'd say your chances of eating "Hawaiian" are a lot higher than your chances of eating "Asian"! You and your favorite hubby might want to reinstitute "date night" at least once a week! That and wine with dinner might help, but please don't resort to wine with breakfast! Then I'll really worry about you! Ha!

I know you aren't laughing as much as I am - but I have one thing to say.
Watch out, Megan!

When does your book come out? Erma Bombeck may have wondered why the grass was greener over the septic tank, but you get to experience the joys of multi-generational adults living together. Stock up on wine, it won't go bad, as it will be consumed in its prime.

Thank you for the update! You made me laugh out loud! And just think...someday that will be you & Megan.

OMG Cheryl... I know it's not fun for you being the one who has to endure it all, but I was dying laughing reading your story. I swear you need to write a TV sit-com or a book and make millions! Yes, wine goes with everything... enjoy it! Vodka is not bad either.

I swear we must be related because you are talking about my mother. I love her dearly but she drives me crazy. Hang in there. I don't think Ill be eating pork tenderloin for a while. LOL
Posted by: MayLa | November 30, 2011 at 01:53 PM
Okay...donkey dicks...I think I will never look at tenderloin the same again! I jumped up and pulled my frozen DD out and showed my husband and he is still ROFLHAO Enjoy the time you have with them. My daughter lives close and keeps saying when I get older that she wants me to move in with her and her DH but...nah! I would drive her to drink also. I gotta remember to tell her about the new food names!

After my grandmother passed away, we found Jello mix from 1944 and Rice Crispies from the 80's. As I tossed them in the trash, I could hear her yelling at me, 'That's still good!' Your mom sounds like a hoot. Enjoy your time together.

EMBRACE THE CRAZY.....
Sadly, my Mom passed away May 6, 2011...And while I was watching your Holiday Tree video and the two of you were laughing and laughing.....It just made me realize that I will never laugh "with" my Mom ever ever again...
I am so very Thankful that her Love was Unconditional and Never-ending! Yeah.....were there times when I gnawed on my tongue until it was raw?!?!?! You bet'cha! But what I wouldn't give for just one more bloody tongue! Loving & Missing You Ma * many tears *

You are a wonderful daughter to do this for your parents. Kudos to your husband for going along with it. Not many people would do what you are doing for your parents. Thank you for your refreshing honesty.

I enjoyed your alphabet stamps video. I do a lot of woodworking and just wanted to comment about the stamps bleeding a bit in the wood. If you want the raw background of wood you can first spray a matte sealer on the wood and your stamps will not bleed. You can still paint, and do whatever you want to after that just fine. Love you gals!!!

I feel for you! I have made 3 trips to missouri w/my dad to help w/my grandfather since aug. His health-which he thinks is FINE and short term memory loss makes it a challenge. He now has someone living there until they find asst'd living, but if he were living w/us...sainthood is in the works for you :)

Oh my gosh. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I don't think I will be able to make a pork roast again without choking back tears and laughter!!! You need to start buying wine by the box!
