Last week my folks moved in with favorite hubby and I. Luckily we have houses that are large enough for 4 people. We packed everything in my mom's kitchen and then I unloaded and figured I would organize it as I was unpacking.

She had 6 cans of sliced pineapple, multiple types of weird beans, 10 cans of the same soup, 8 packages of pasta, 6 packages of noodles etc...etc. To say she had enough food for an army would be an understatement. The funny thing is this woman goes to the store every other day. The weirdest thing I found was a box of fortune cookies. WHO eats fortune cookies? When I asked why she had a box of fortune cookies she said and I quote, "well Cheryl, we eat them when I make my asiatic food!" Asiatic Food! All these years I've been calling it by the wrong name and now I've been enlightened.

It's been 8 days since we moved and we've had about 4 major fights about stupid stuff. This woman is stubborn, pigheaded and thinks I'm an idiot. I'm trying to make this easy for my folks (my dad is happy if he eats every two hours) and still keep my sanity. The other night she decided to make a pork tenderloin for dinner (yes, she cooks all the meals). I was taking it out of the oven and my dad comes in and says "oh good donkey dick!" I looked at the pork and thought "just breathe Cheryl." Then my mom got out the sliced pineapple and I said "what's with the pineapple?" She said, "when I cook Hawaiian, I always use pineapple." I then reached into the fridge for the wine....it goes great with Hawaiian!

Today's video is all about using our alphabet stamp set and stamping onto wood. We showed this last year and since I'm busy plucking my eyeballs out, we are reshowing our favorite videos for this time of year. I hope this inspires you for this season and gives you some ideas for your gift giving. If you order this alphabet set we will include a wood frame with it. As for me, I will never look at a pork tenderloin the same and will probably drink wine with every meal.  *I did end up throwing away the fortune cookies away as they were from 2007!

Today we show how to create a great gift idea using our metal personalized and framed. What better way to say "I care about you" than to make your gifts this holiday season.

Today's video shows how to do this frame using our Rock Star Black. We now have this color on 3', 10' and 25' rolls. So now you can literally "metal your world!"

 

You can take this same idea and stamp it out using our alphabet stamp set that is done in the same style.

I can't believe this week is finally here, we are moving into another house we have and my parents are joining us again. That's the new way of saying "my parents are living with us," they're joining us. Anytime you blend families together it's a huge adjustment. As long as I stay out of my mom's way, let her cook all meals and wash my clothes, everything's cool. That should sound like heaven if it was your maid that was doing those things and not your mom. But then again, she will treat me like I'm 16 so I guess I should just go with the flow. Having more time to share with your family is always special.

I hope everyone takes a few moments out of their busy schedules and give thanks to the people in our lives, relax with friends and support small business Saturday. I'll be keeping out of my mom's way!

White Christmas

This is the wooden tree I did last year and painted the metal white.

Everyone is always asking how to get specific colors on the metal and I like to tell them they can customize different colors with acrylic paint.

Is this more labor intensive? Of course it is. But you are also making something that is unique to your own decorating needs. After all, who wants the same thing as everyone else? Are you the sound or the echo?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Right now all the stores have various types of wooden holiday objects that can be decorated.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I added some crystals, and the base is made from aluminum foil.

 

The other side of the tree is our Poison Ivy metal  and then the top is made from pearl garland.

This is such an easy project to make and looks special every year you get it out for your tablescape.

Black Wednesday

It's the season for all those "black" days and why would we just have one following Thanksgiving like the rest of the country when we can have one every week on our own day.

Last week we had our Black Wednesday special on metal which sold out fast.

*For those that asked earlier this week about our dogs. They are all rescue dogs. We don't believe in paying $800 for a dog when you can get the cuties that we have. Mocha (the brown one) may have a little ridgeback in her. She certainly isn't a pure lab..hates water, baths and is a picky little barker. Roxie (the black one) is the most loving dog you'll ever meet and I think she's part lab/part scratch me for the rest of your life. Chloe our white one who wasn't in the picture is a pure nutball who likes to snuggle and thinks she's a lap dog...a 45lb lapdog.

Cut it up

I love these dogs. All they want to do is climb in your lap and let you scratch them all day long.

You may ask yourself what do dogs have to do with our post today and the answer is "absolutely nothing."

I tried going through my files looking for the Cricut picture that would go with today's video and it must have gotten sucked into a vortex cuz I can't find it.

Today's video is all about how to cut metal on a Cricut. Last year when I was at Art on A Limb, Jeanette Wilson offered to show how she cuts metal. It really is quite easy to do and for all of you Cricut nuts, this will certainly give you more inspiration for your crafting. I hope you enjoy this refresher.
