EMBOSSED METAL

  • Boobalicious_art_2
When I found out I had breast cancer I created my boobalicious art from wire, plaster and lots of collaged junk. My husband thought I went over the top with the flowers but they were the "cherry on the sundae"!

Megan's Wedgie

Megan's weggie

This is one of Megan's vacation photos of her zip lining down the side of a mountain in Mexico. Yes, it does look like she's going to hit the tree. She landed on a platform and then had to repel down the side of a mountain. They failed to tell her there was repelling down any side of any mountain. I can just hear her crying 'mommmmmmmmie" all the way down. When she got to the bottom she celebrated by drinking and kissing the ground. I'm just kidding...that's what I would be doing.

Megan goes on Vacation

 Crazy chairs

My vacations are my life...not really but it sounded deep! The last vacation I went on was 2 years ago to Hawaii for surf/spa camp. That was a blast and I learned how to surf...NOT! But in my mind I surf and am near perfection. Anyway, this year I spent a week in Puerto Vallarta. All my friends were busy, so I went by myself and had a blast. The boardwalk which runs along the beach in downtown PV has amazing sculptures on it. There was a whole set of chairs that are totally off the wall and of course made of metal.  If I had brought my tools I could have really expanded on them.Pillow People Sailing

This one is called Pillow People. The heads are pillows. Someone told me the whole thing washed out to sea in the last hurricane and it was found by fishermen who brought it back. But there were three little pillow heads and one is still lost. So everyone climbs up on them take pictures as the third pillow head.

Here I am sailing an entire yacht by myself! Ok, only in my mind...I decided to take a leap and learn how to sail the American Cup sail boat with Vallarta Adventures Part of learning how to sail the boat was to race them. Since I'm a very competitive person, my boat won 2 out of 3 of the races. We celebrated with champaign, beer and tequila (in that exact order). Overall, I had a great time, met great people, ate amazing food, and had some amazing margaritas. My trip ended with Cheryl greeting me at the airport laughing, because I was so burnt and for some odd reason my lips got burned and swelled up really, really big. They are now back to normal.

Crafty Scrapper Classes

Crafty Scrapper Class

Tracy Pounds and I had a blast at Crafty Scrapper on May 17th. What a great store with tons of inspiration and a great group of ladies. This is half the crowd for the "create class". Everyone had a blast and did some amazing "metalized" letters.

Inspiration

Me_and_the_dogs

I'm always getting asked "where do you get your ideas?" Usually, I'm sitting in a chair with my head back wondering "what am I going to pull out of my a$$ today?" I was doing just that, when the dogs, Roxie and Mocha, decided to jump on me and lick me everywhere. This was how I came up with lunch bunch ideas for the studio. Of course Roxie had probably just been getting her drink from the toilet. That dog will drink water anywhere.

I'm going away this weekend with Tracy Pounds and we're teaching at The Crafty Scrapper. I'm packing my camera and hopefully will remember to take lots of photos. I'll share with you on Monday. We're staying at a B & B and I'm taking all my cool Thomas Mann kits I got in New Orleans. I've got to post the pics from that trip. If any of you are every in New Orleans you've simply got to go to his galery.

Life is not measured

Gallery_moments

This was done on our Pearl Metal. Another quote that is then mounted to the back of a canvas in the center. I gave this to my friend Carolyn at Crafty Scrapper. This is kind of a Star War Intro style photo, but I couldn't get the whole thing in a straight on shot.

This shows how I textured the edge of the frame with paint and my wood fill from Terra Bella. I love that stuff, it gives great texture and can be mixed with paint. I added bits of mesh that Megan had tea dyed for another project and glued old pearls in the corner.  This was the first time I've incorporated typed text into a piece and I just added those in small frames created with some texture wheels.

This dog is driving me crazy

Roxie_and_cheryl

I came out of my studio today and found that my other favorite dog "Roxie" the Lab had eaten a box and was dropping pieces of it all the way back to her sleeping bed. This dog wants to eat everything including shoes. She was like Hansel and Gretel with the bits everywhere. I'm trying to pry the main piece of box from her mouth and she's slobbering all over the place. Of course, Megan has nothing better to do than take pictures of my "best body part" and send them to me. Fun times.

Imagine

Imagine_circle Cheryl_and_imagine_sample

I like to take unusual items found at the hardware store and attach metal to them. This is one of my favorite sayings done on my Rock Star Black metal. I sanded it on a rough surface to get a really nice background. Then crimped the edges of the metal cap with large plyers.
