On today's video, Megan comes up with a great idea for altering your house numbers. We want you to go outside, rip off those dowdy numbers on your house and put them onto a plaque or buy new ones like we did. If this doesn't get your creative juices flowing, I don't know what will.
Post a comment to the video on the blog and we will pick a lucky winner of this sign. It's called
"number art". Today is also my little baby's birthday. I've decided to take the day off and celebrate the fact that I gave birth to a beautiful smart girl. I don't know where I would be right now without my daughter as she is the one who tells me what to do, when to do it and how to do it almost every day.
Thank you Megan for being you! Hope you have a great 30th! :)

This week's video we show you how easy it is to create a really cool book shape with one piece of decorated paper. In last week's video we showed how to decorate brown paper with our VerDay paints. This is just the plain brown paper roll you can get at Lowe's in the paint dept. There are two types and I get the heavier one. Hurry in and get yours before some diva put's their name on it and it's three times the cost ;)
I've used my stamps and our rub-on's for the cover. After I folded I took strips of canvas and sewed it down to the paper.
Here you can see the book opened and the strips of fabric.
This takes a plain jane piece of paper to another level and is so easy to make.
I added some more rub-on's to the inside and can now decorate this book as I go or have it as my very own homemade journal.
The flap in the front and back are perfect for holding ephemera or tags.
Hope you enjoy this video and let us know if you like this technique and have made your very own one page book.

This week Marleen van Merendonk shows everyone how to create a really cool card using all sorts of cool goodies including our VerDay Paints and Patina.
Who wouldn't want to receive a card this beautiful?
It's too late for Mother's Day but Father's Day in just next month and these techniques would work just as nicely using Iron VerDay Paint and Patina for a more masculine look. Or do a combination of both (my personal favorite).
Check out how Marleen does these techniques and let us know how you like them. We hope you agree that working with these paints is so easy and the results are spectacular.

What can I say...I watched Marleen's tutorial and was amazed at what she created using metal, paint, wood and flowers. She takes a storage unit for ink pads and transposes it into the coolest storage unit for any studio. These techniques will work on any type of wood surface and don't forget to get out banged up cigar boxes, or any other type of box you may have and breathe new life into it with paint and metal. I love the look of our molds embossed on metal and the use of our alphabet stamps with the VerDay Paints.
Can't wait to hear what you think of these great techniques from Marleen and I hope this gives you the inspiration to create.

On today's video we show you how easy it is to transform a plain jane roll of paper (I got mine at Lowe's...my happy place) into a fabulous decorated background.
Next week we will show how to take this paper and turn it into a book. Let us know what you think of this technique and we want to see your experiments on paper. Don't stop at brown paper, this would also look beautiful on gift bags, handmade papers and those butt ugly 12x12 papers you have from 10 years ago! I give you permission to PLAY!

Starring in the month of May, from our design team, is Marleen van Meerendonk. I met Marleen last year when I went to the cool little town of Ede in the Netherlands, at the coolest shop owned by Lia Sauer...De Craftorij. Marleen is a very talented mixed media artist and I was so glad she applied for our design team.
Today I’m showing a possibility to paint the VerDay-paints on glass.
The photo-video shows you how simple it works to alter a bottle. I hope it inspires you for using the Verday-paints on glass. In the video is also a technique to make a heart of copper metal.
Other materials:
Steampunk paper from Graphic45.
Metal embellishments from Tim Holtz, 7 Gypsies and Prima Marketing.
Hope you all like it,

On this week's video we show stamping onto pure copper using one of our alphabet stamps.
This technique is so easy and works well with stamps that are more of an open design rather than something with a lot of detail. We designed our stamps for doing large work and these are perfect for card making or home decor.
I mounted this onto a piece of stampboard that I had painted with our paints in Iron and a touch of Copper VerDay Paint. Because it was sponged on, it gave it a textured look.
Megan did this on a piece of copper and then mounted it on top of a piece of scrap metal and then framed it.
These ideas are great for almost any occasion from birthday's to anniversary's.
Hope this video gives you some inspiration in time for Mother's Day or any occasion

Talented Vickie Doswell took last weeks flowers and made a beautiful layout with all sorts of cool ephemera.
Today is my last Wednesday project as the Ten Seconds Studio Guest Designer for the month of April. I have really enjoyed using the Ten Seconds Studio products in creating these projects and look forward to using them in the future.
Today’s project is a canvas that I made using some of the flowers that I made for last weeks project. I once again chose Graphic 45 papers and built my canvas around those and embellished with Ideology products. I apologize for the quality of the photographs but I couldn’t seem to get the lighting right to get the flowers the more copper color without washing out everything. They just had to be red for some reason so everything is warmer!
The canvas is an 8x8” canvas covered with paper from the Once Upon a Springtime collection from Graphic 45. I love the postcard and vintage feel of the paper and it fit well with my theme.
Another picture of the metal/paper flowers that I stacked on top of some paper flowers that I sprayed a peachy color to match up with the copper.
I love the way the butterflies turned out today. I cut them out of the copper and embossed them before adding that patina. Each one seemed to turn out a little different some turned more green than another one.
Thank you Vickie for creating some really cool projects this month. Megan and I really appreciate your work and that you got everything to us in a timely manner.
FYI:
Where did Tuesday go? We shot a video for Tuesday but the day just got away from us so it may become more of a "sometime this week video". Have patience because Megan will get it done sometime this week. We've been working hard getting all the orders out for the VerDay Paints and copper metal. People seem to be going nuts with the video ideas and working with those paints. We just got in another shipment so if you were waiting, the paints are instock.

Vickie Doswell has outdone herself for today design team challenge. It's all about Flowers
I have been having a lot of fun making flowers and I received a lot of comments about a flower I made to put on a canvas. I LOVE VerDay Paint and Patina and have used it in making flowers from card stock, metal, and on canvas.
The first thing you want to decide is what kind of flower, what color of metal you want it to be or look like and what dies or punches you will use to cut it out with. This could turn into a rather lengthy post so I am going to try and condense it breaking it down into metal or cardstock.
Use any type of die cut machine and texture plates. I used a Sizzix dies called Flower Layers, Daisies and a Sizzix die called Tattered Flowers. I used copper and brass sheets and the Flower Layers die to cut this first flower out.
I also used a flower punch from Stampin Up! to cut out a couple smaller flowers using copper but the brass metal sheet was too thick for the punch but worked fine with the dies. The metal flowers can be embossed after cutting with either the molds from TSS or embossing folders. I found embossing them gave the VerDay Patina something to hold on to get a better oxidization.
After approximately 24 hours you can take a sanding block and sand the pieces lightly to make the metal shine above the patina. Take the flower pieces and stack them together and secure them with a brad and start forming the petals. The metal that has been embossed has to be manipulated by hand curving and turning it to make the petals. If you didn't emboss you can use the metal working tools from TSS to turn the petals.
To make the paper VerDay flowers I painted the bronze and copper paint on white and brown cardstock drying it well before cutting it as I did the metals.
The cardstock will curl as it dries but it is just paper and you can flatten it out easily.
Next cut the flower pieces using the dies or punches.
Place pieces on the foam from the Mat Set and using the TSS metal working ball of the ball and cup tool gently use circular motion on the back side of the flower to make the petals curl. Depending on how much curl you want depends on the size of the ball.
Here I just used the erasing tool to curl the center to make a cup to fit the pieces together. I then lightly sprayed the flower parts with VerDay in a fine mister to start the oxidization process. There is a VerDay Patina Sprayer available from TSS but it has a coarser spray and the flowers need a lighter touch.
The next step is to put the pieces together to form the flowers and I hit them with another mist of VerDay and let them sit a day to oxidize. Attach in the same manner as the metal flowers.
